Practical Neuroscience takes the latest research and makes it easy to apply to the work we do.
I’ve been developing some interventions that both simplify and amplify neural flexibility, which makes the brain easier to change.
First, we look at how the “problem” gets triggered and what prediction errors we need to instigate to update the pattern.
We will learn some creative ways of doing memory reconsolidation which is at the heart of rapid change that lasts. Changing early pre verbal emotional learning that is foundational to our beliefs, values and unconscious blueprint is a game changer in mental health.
Once you understand the necessary steps to spur it on, you’ll be able to create new interventions on the fly.
You’ll be able to tweak the processes and techniques you already love so that they more effectively unlock these core learnings.
Because sometimes we wanna go from emotional limbic to pre frontal, except when it’s better to go from pre frontal to sensory. The key lies in how the problem is set up and maintained.
You’ll learn the language of both hemispheres and how to navigate deductive and inductive problem solving.
You’ll also learn how to use value tagging in the salience network to change cognitive filters. Understanding how the filters your client is using keeps the problem in place and how to creatively change them can be applied to almost all clients.
The brain makes the best drugs.
You’ll learn how to dose your clients in the different neurochemicals depending on the issue.
Are they needing the dopamine of motivation, the wellbeing of serotonin or the connection of oxytocin?
Practicing ways of moderating the biochemical cocktails allow you to lean into what’s needed.
I’m designing it so if you’re new to my work, it’s foundational and if you are already a student, it’s an advanced lens with which to shape the work.
